This is the city of Vik, with its black volcanic sand beaches. I have read that this was voted one of the top ten beaches
in the world by someone, but I sure can't find a source on it. It is a beautiful place, and the surf was chest to shoulder
high, but mushy. We stopped at the Lobster restaurant in Stokkseyri for dinner. I had lamb and veggies, which cost over
fifty dollars, but the guys that had the lobster were out a hundred bucks a person. It was very good, and there was tons
of food.

The photo below looks like a typical snow covered mountain, but it is, in fact, a glacier.
An actual glacier |

The photo below is of Laufskalavarda. "According to tradition, there was a large farm known as Laufskalar on about this
site but it was destroyed in the year 894 in the first recorded eruption of the volcano Katla. The neighbouring farm was
Dynskogar, home of the settler Hrafn hafnarlykill, and the region was known as Dynskogahverfi. Souces state that there were
24 doors on iron hinges at laufskalar. The lava mound, which is known as Laufskalavaroa (Laufskalar Cairn), was named after
the farm. Everyone passing by it for the first time was supposed to add a stone to bring him good luck on his journey."
