Duxford

We went to an airshow at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. They were to have the most Spitfire fighters flying at one time since World War II. Tragically, the weather was very bad (low ceilings and thick haze) so the only flying to be seen was an RAF H-47 Helicopter. It was still amazing. The collection of aircraft was fantastic and we enjoyed ourselves.

The Alan Williams Turret was built in 1940 to prepare for the coming invasion of England by German. The concept was simple. A cheap, mobile "lid" for a fox hole. This would offer much more protection for infantry. Fortunately, it was never needed.

The only flier of the day, the H-47 Chinook.
